Social Media, Populism, and Fake News
摘要
Media has been accused of ‘diluting’ serious writing since ages. It had to fight its way to find its place among common man. By nature, media is a deviation from serious academic writing. This gives birth to ‘populism’. While populism is necessary for the common mass, it also keeps the door open for misinformation. Social media, while gaining a wider reach, made ‘fake news’ a major problem for today’s readers and news consumers.
