Role of Fake News in Fanning Populist Sentiments

News media has long been considered the “watchdog of democracy.” To do justice to this title, it must respect the truth. With the rise of new populism and fake news, however, this affinity toward truth is being diluted. Populist movements use fake news and propaganda to exert influence, and this phenomenon is marring news. This entry looks at the interrelations of fake news and populist sentiments.
