The Algerian history during French colonialism, particularly the period between 1830 and 1870, can add to the history of world popular resistances a vivid example of how a population inhabiting a wide territory resisted for a period of 40 years. Rethinking the nature of the Algerian resistance from a postmodern theoretical perspective, especially from the Existentialist insights of the German philosopher Martin Heidegger, constitutes knowledge on the logic of popular resistances anchored in fundamental questions of being, such that by Emir Abd al-Qadir.
