Populism and Museums
摘要
Museums that function as heterotopias opening doors to history, culture, anthropology, and folklore have new roles to perform as cultural institutions in the age of globalization. Museums invite much scholarly attention today with the emergence of new notions of knowledge and modes of historiography that encourage rereading of history. This short entry explains the shifting roles of museums from their traditional role as storehouses of antiques to the postmodern spaces of immersive experiences.
