People and their sentiments play a significant role in populism, and the rise and establishment of populist leaders and their regimes. This entry focuses on people’s sentiments or mass sentiments, and their relevance to new populism. The emphasis is on the significance of popular sentiments to the leaders who claim to represent the people and their voices, and how these sentiments can be influenced, represented, and at times appropriated.
