Populist Family and Gender Politics: The Interplay Among Sex, Gender, and Populism Exemplified by Attacks Against the Istanbul Convention

  • Susanne Nef

摘要

This entry explores how sex, gender, and populism are interwoven. This intervieawing is illustrated by the example of right-wing populist attacks against the Istanbul Convention in Europe. In concrete terms, the attacks against the Istanbul Convention will be used as an example to show the extent of the recent right-wing populist mobilization in Europe. In this entry, this movement is seen as a movement that fosters masculinist identity politics at the intersection of gender, class, religion, ethnicity, and sexuality.
