Populism and Family Values

This entry is an attempt to map and relook at the multiple ways in which the ideas of populism have brought in changes in family values. The entry explores how populism reaches families and individuals through policies, cultural forms, and media. The entry demonstrates how cultural values and family values are impacted through the notions of populism by looking at the impacts of populism in India in particular. It will address questions of acceptance of leadership of parents, filial relationships, sharing of resources, and working for sustenance of the family within medium-sized nuclear families, and how these aspects are affected by ideas of populism.
