Triple Bottom Line in Sustainability and Populism
摘要
Over the past three decades, the concern for sustainability has risen among governments and policymakers. There are ample solutions projected and recommended and, among these solutions, the concept of triple bottom line involving the economy, environment, and society gave potential answers to such problems. Ecological awareness has created a cluster of people showing concern for the environment and who believe that the ongoing practices by policymakers do not address their concerns. Besides, some populist movements pose a detrimental impact on some climate policies, for instance, the opposition to taxes related to environmental sustainability. Thus, sustainability with the rise of populism might face adverse repercussions regarding environmental policies and triple bottom line. This entry will help to understand the concept of the triple bottom line and how it is important for the development of the businesses and economy. It will further reflect the thoughts about the relation between populism and sustainability and the increasing support for populism on the one hand can facilitate the fulfillment of sustainable development goals.
