Green Banking Practices: An Investigation into the Perception of Employees of PSUs and Private Banks in Bangalore

The phenomenon of economic development impacting on the environment is uncomprehending. In this regard the RBI and the World Bank have opted a policy towards sustainable banking practices. This study focuses on the changes in the green banking practices among the PSUs and private sector banks. The objective is to know the various green banking practices and the effectiveness of such practices as perceived by the employees. A development of perceptual mapping of the similarity and impact of such effectiveness. The research is descriptive in nature, which comprises of collection of primary data by a 5-point Likert scale. The analysis of the data set with by of descriptive and inferential statistics along with mathematical modelling. The perception mapping among the employees of banking sector dwells in two dimensions. There is a significant influence of eco-banking practices on the effectiveness of the green banking functions. Perceived green banking mapping has significant differences in various dimensions, viz. mobile banking with e-documents. However, the eco-friendly projects and prioritizing are having less perceived distance among themselves on perceptual map. This signifies the eco-friendly practices and perceived usefulness of various ES methods as guidelines under RBI.
