The Quadruple-Evidence Method in Retrospect

Traditional research into Chinese civilization had centered on the reading of abundance of documented literature. In 1925 Wang Kuo-wei proposed “the Dual-evidence Methodology” when he classified the inscriptions on the unearthed oracle bones as the additional evidence to complement the written documents.
