Domestic Waste Management and Their Utilization
摘要
Waste management is a challenging task in the present scenario due to the multiple sources of different types of waste generation. These sources include agro-waste, animal waste, medical waste, domestic waste, and more. The various types of waste pose toxic effects on the environment and human health. The accumulation of these various types of waste harms the environment and poses risks to human health. It is imperative to identify and implement cost-effective solutions to mitigate these challenges and alleviate the strain on the nation's landfills. Among the different types of waste, domestic waste stands out as a common and regular occurrence in our daily lives. It comprises a substantial portion of municipal waste and includes items such as food waste, plastic waste, paper waste, plant waste, animal waste, and more. Given the large-scale generation of domestic waste on a daily basis, it is crucial to focus on its efficient utilization and recycling from both economic and environmental standpoints. Numerous methods exist, ranging from small-scale to large-scale approaches, that enable the recycling and management of domestic waste from various sources. This chapter discusses significant and effective management techniques for domestic waste and their appropriate utilization at both local and industrial scales.
