摘要

The agro-waste to wealth concept is a new global trend associated with transforming agricultural waste into beneficial products of high commercial value, which can range from crop residues to food processing. This tactic not only lessens the impact of agricultural waste on the environment but also creates opportunities for generating sources of income and employment. The transformation of agro-waste utilizes a variety of techniques, namely composting, pyrolysis, and anaerobic digestion, which transforms agro-waste into potentially useful products such as raw materials for packaging, biofertilizers, biogas, biochar, animal feed, mushroom cultivation, and various other commodities. The agro-waste to wealth approach has the promising capability to tackle several challenges that are a major concern for agricultural communities, such as soil degradation, water pollution, and waste management. In addition, converting agro-waste to wealth can promote the development of sustainable approaches to circular economies, which consider waste as an asset or resource rather than a liability. Managing agricultural waste is important and should be done to maximize its potential and minimize its environmental effect. However, the successful implementation of agro-waste to wealth is still a farfetched idea that requires appropriate policies, technical expertise and awareness, economic aids, and marketing opportunities. Additionally, it requires the contribution of farmers, researchers, entrepreneurs, and policymakers, which are introductory classes for creating a more resilient and sustainable agricultural sector that benefits both the environment and the economy.
