Plastic Waste to Wealth: Sustainable Approach Toward a Circular Economy

Plastics are a crucial material and have various and attractive applications due to this the demand is continually increasing in the household as well as industry sector. Waste is generated after the use of these plastics, out of which thermoplastics polymers are a major player. The amount of waste generated is continuously increasing around the planet. Hence, Due to their immense quantity and disposable problem waste plastics cause a very serious environmental challenge. Waste plastic cracking is the only technology that can convert waste plastic to fuel and other value-added products. Collaboration of plastic cracking technology with other downstream technologies like posttreatment separation, extraction of toxic chemicals, hydrocarbon distillation, and purification will result in cleaner fuel. This approach plays a prominent role in meeting increasing energy demand. The waste management strategies and technologies, and how they accelerate circular economy and contribute toward carbon neutrality are briefly discussed in this chapter. This chapter also highlighted novel approaches in the process and end-product development of plastic cracking technology to achieve waste-to-wealth milestones.
