Statistical Fluctuations in EPC
摘要
The main physical feature of the cascade process is statistical fluctuations due to the corpuscular nature of the medium in which the high-energy medium moves. It is for this reason that the trajectories of cosmic ray particles in the Earth’s atmosphere are not continuous, like the trajectories of raindrops, but appear broken, consisting of almost rectilinear segments of random length and random directions. At high energies, the processes of particle production also take place, so that the trajectory of the cascade in the atmosphere becomes similar to an inverted tree.
