Status and Prospects of EU–China Relations

From the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1975, to the 2003 commitment for a comprehensive strategic partnership, to the European Council Conclusions on ChinaChina of June 2023, the balance of challenges and opportunities in the EUEuropean Union (EU)–China relationship has shifted over time. Recently, the EU’s China policy has been experiencing a period of recalibration, of reassessment and redefinition, to reflect changes in China and on the global stage.
