摘要

In 1953, a gold coin of the Eastern Roman (Byzantine) Empire was unearthed from the Sui tomb at Dizhangwan, Xianyang, near Xi’an. This paper provides a detailed analysis of this gold coin, suggesting that this gold coin is from the Eastern Roman Emperor Justine II (regined 565–578), and introduces the relationship between Byzantine Empire and China at that time and the situation of Byzantine currency flowing into China.
