Mass Concreting Techniques Used in Various Hospital Projects for LINAC Block

Several advanced cancer treatment methods are available in various medical centres. Few such treatment methods are LINAC & PROTON THERAPY. These treatment methods are based on radiation exposure. So, proper precautions must be taken during construction to avoid radiation leakage to public. These precautions include construction of thick concrete walls around. In this paper, various precautions and measures taken in the design and construction of LINAC walls to avoid radiation leakage are highlighted. Methods to control temperature in mass concrete walls, mix designs for mass concreting and monitoring the temperature using thermocouples are discussed.
