Study on the Performance of Cobalt Removal by Manganese-Based Capacitive Deionization

摘要

With the development of industry in China, more and more heavy metals are discharged into the environment in different forms. Traditional heavy metal removal techniques, such as chemical precipitation, membrane separation, and adsorption, have high cost, high energy consumption, secondary pollution, complicated operation, and other disadvantages. Due to the excellent pseudocapacitance properties, Layered manganese dioxide could be used as electrode materials in CDI. In this paper, layered manganese dioxide (δ-MnO2) was prepared by chemical co-precipitation method and characterized by XRD and SEM, the Co2+ removal conditions of δ-MnO2 in CDI were discussed. The results show that the removal rate of Co2+ can reach 88% in the heavy metal solution under optimal conditions.
