Factors Affecting the Decision to Use Bicycle Share: A Case Study of Students in Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City
摘要
Public bus transportation is available in the Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City (VNU-HCM), but mainly for students travelling from outside of the university to VNU-HCM. The bus is unsuitable and not so flexible for trips inside the university with short lengths of only 1–2 km. With the convenience of the bicycle and high moveable possibility, bicycle sharing is also currently applied in some universities around the world. We proposed a bicycle-sharing system in VNU-HCM and introduced some of its basic characteristics. A survey with a stated preference method was conducted to collect information about potential students about the proposed system. Then we analyzed factors affecting the VNU students’ decision to use bicycles based on binary logistic regression. Finally, solutions are also suggested to improve the probability that students will use bicycle share.
