Simulating Multivariate Natural and Large-Scale Laboratory Hydro-Morphodynamic Data Using Copula Approach

摘要

The morphodynamic behavior of coastal areas is strongly influenced by interconnected hydrodynamic parameters. Considering the correlation between variables, it becomes crucial to account for the multivariate dependence structures. This study aims to construct a dependency structure between local acceleration and pressure gradient, utilizing the copula approach as a robust statistical method. Archimedean and elliptical copula families were employed for the statistical simulations, demonstrating reliable performances for both field and laboratory datasets. The comparison of simulation results between field and laboratory data revealed the potential for universal applicability in simulating hydrodynamic parameters. Nonetheless, the impact of sediment grain diameter on the simulation results emphasizes the importance of incorporating several morphological parameters into the simulation procedure.
