The Characteristics of Mathematical Communication in Secondary School Students’ Collaborative Problem Solving

摘要

This research studied mathematical communicationMathematical communication in secondary school students’ collaborative problem solving. This research aimed to establish a coding framework for mathematical communicationMathematical communication and analyse the characteristics of students’ mathematical communicationMathematical communication. In current study, eight groups’ mathematical communicationMathematical communication was coded, and a model of secondary school students’ mathematical communicationMathematical communication process was constructed. The results of this study indicated that “negotiate,” “argue,” “quarrel” and “artifact” were the basic modules in the students’ mathematical communicationMathematical communication process. While secondary school students are not afraid to express their opinions and refute other students’, there are still various problems in the mathematical communicationMathematical communication process.
