Decoupling Economic Growth from Natural Resource Consumption

摘要

In the earlier chapter we looked at the unsustainable components of economic growth. The report published by UNEP’s International Resource Panel (2011) suggests that by the year 2050, the global economy would have reached a resource consumption of nearly 140 billion tons per year. This includes minerals, fossil fuels and biomass. There is a stark difference in the consumption patterns of developed and developing countries.
