The polymer science discipline at Fudan University, established in 1958, has grown into a leading research and education base in China. Evolving from early focuses on polymer synthesis, it now encompasses a comprehensive system including polymer physics and engineering. Key milestones include the founding of the Department of Macromolecular Science in 1993 and the State Key Laboratory of Molecular Engineering of Polymers in 2011. With six major research areas such as polymer physics, polymer chemistry, polymer engineering, intelligent polymer, biological polymer and photoelectric energy polymer, the discipline has achieved numerous national awards and cultivated large numbers of innovative talents, making significant contributions to China’s scientific and technological advancement in the field.
