Origins and Theoretical Foundations of Convivialism

  • Alain Caillé

摘要

Convivialism can be seen as an attempt to go beyond the great modern political ideologies: liberalism, socialism, anarchism, and communism, while preserving them (aufheben). It is their heir. But its other main source, beyond the sociological tradition, is the anti-utilitarianism and gift paradigm developed over the past forty years by La Revue du MAUSS (Anti-Utilitarian Movement in Social Science), named after the anthropologist Marcel Mauss, author of the Essay on the Gift (1925).
