The Practice Exploration, Suggestions for Reflection and Development Prospects of the Hydrogen Energy Industry in China

In the context of the official release of the Medium- and Long-term Plan for the Development of Hydrogen Energy Industry (2021–2035), the clear strategic positioning of hydrogen energy and the start of the construction of fuel cell vehicle demonstration and application city clusters, the attention of various industries to the hydrogen energy industry has continued to rise, and various parts of the country have formulated and improved hydrogen energy-related policies and accelerated demonstration applications, and the industry has ushered in a new opportunity, showing an obvious accelerated development trend. In this paper, we have made a detailed review of the current development practice of China's hydrogen energy industry in terms of policy system, core technology, hydrogen supply, terminal application and enterprise layout, and summarized some problems and constraints that exist in China's hydrogen energy industry while it achieving remarkable results and moving into the fast lane of development. In the paper, we put forward thoughts and suggestions on the breakthrough of policy and regulation innovation, multi-link coupling development of hydrogen energy production, transmission and use, independent control of core technology and giving full play to the role of fuel cell vehicle demonstration and application cities. Finally, the prospects for the development of hydrogen energy industry in the 14th Five-Year Plan period are presented in terms of industry, technology, hydrogen energy supply and terminal application scenarios.
