ILETO, Reynaldo Clemeña

Reynaldo Clemeña Ileto is one of the most prominent historians of the Philippines and well-known internationally, especially in East and Southeast Asia for adopting innovative approaches to historical analysis. His areas of expertise cover Asian history, religion and society, postcolonial studies, and the government and politics of the Asia Pacific region. His research interests are wide-ranging including religiopolitical movements in colonial Southeast Asia, nineteenth-century Spain and the Philippines, the Philippine Revolution (1896–1898), US-Philippine relations (1899–present), history and nation building in the Philippines (1898–present), and indigenous practitioners of Southeast Asian studies.
