HALL, D[aniel] G[eorge] E[dward] (1891–1979)

D[aniel] G[eorge] E[dward] Hall was a British historian and Myanmar (Burma) was his focus of attention. However, he was most noted for producing the first history of Southeast Asia. Hall was the first historian/scholar who pioneered the holistic perspective of the study of Southeast Asia as a region. Thereafter, other disciplines too adopted this perspective of Southeast Asia as a region in its own right, Geography for instance.
