Pye, Lucien W[ilmot] (1921–2008)

Lucien W[ilmot] Pye was one of the foremost American scholars of the post-war era who was at once a political scientist, sinologist, and a specialist on comparative politics, particularly between the politics of the West, East, and Southeast Asia. Pye was regarded as one of the leading Asianists of his generation, with a special focus on China and Southeast Asia. His area of expertise was political culture and political psychology, not only as an advocate but also as a practitioner.
