Ungku ABDUL AZIZ bin Ungku Abdul Hamid (1922–2020)

Ungku Abdul Aziz bin Ungku Abdul Hamid, better known as Ungku Aziz, was an economist and academician and Malaysia’s one and only Royal Professor. Besides excelling in economics with expertise in poverty eradication and rural development, he had a major role and impact on government socioeconomic policies as well as being a pivotal institution builder. Malaysia and its multiethnic population, in particular the indigenous Malays, owed a debt of gratitude to his pioneering ideas, endeavors, and influence in redrawing the socioeconomic landscape of the country in the span of two generations.
