摘要

E[rnest] K[elvin] Fisk, better known as Fred Fisk, was a rural development economist of Southeast Asia, focusing on Malaya/Malaysia in particular, and in later years, extending to cover the southwest Pacific. Acknowledged as a “Scholar [and] a key player in emerging nations,” Fisk made significant “contributions to the theory of transition from subsistence agriculture to production for the market. In the real world, he became well-known for his empirical work” (Drake 2009).
