ARNDT, Heinz Wolfgang (1915–2002)

Heinz Wolfgang Arndt was one of Australia’s foremost development economists who spearheaded the study of Indonesia’s economy through two of his creations, namely, the Indonesia Economy Project (at times, simply the Indonesia Project), and the scholarly journal, Bulletin of Indonesian Economic Studies (BIES). His two legacies continued into the twenty-first century where economic study and research of Indonesia’s economy in particular, and of the region of Southeast Asia in general, provide articulate discussions, in-depth analyses, and succinct evaluations that are beneficial to local decision-makers and others with bilateral relations (political, economic, strategic, cultural, educational).
