David K[ent] Wyatt was one of the preeminent historians of Thailand. Not only was he a dedicated student of Southeast Asian history with a major interest in the mainland territories, especially Thailand, but he was also a keen and expansive collector of primary and secondary source materials, including rare manuscripts in ancient scripts.
