Andaya, Barbara Watson

Barbara Watson Andaya is one of the foremost historians of Southeast Asia of the early modern period, namely, from around the fifteenth century to the mid-nineteenth century. Specializing on the history of insular Southeast Asia and covering a variety of topics and themes, her expertise focuses on women and gender, the history of nation states (Malaysia) and territories (Perak, Sumatra), and religious change and local adaptation (Christianity).
