摘要

Aging is a universal process that is beyond the scope of human control. It cannot be stopped because it is a natural occurrence. Before the commencement of aging, there is the possibility of taking preventive actions for many disorders related to aging. Aging is a persistent, unstoppable, and degenerative process. Lifestyle has a significant impact on how we age, and a changing lifestyle is a primary factor in premature age-related issues. The term “ethno-medical knowledge” refers to the understanding of traditional medicine, which is frequently used by many indigenous populations and ethnic groups. A variety of anthropological and ethnopharmacological investigations could be used to help record the disorganized traditional medical system. Phytochemicals derived from medicinal plants help to preserve the brain’s chemical balance by suppressing the activation of receptors for key inhibitory neurotransmitters. In traditional medicine, many plants have been recorded to alleviate age-related diseases. The chapter discusses the value of ethnopharmacological research in mitigating and preventing brain aging.
