The temporal bone joined the anterior sphenoid bone and the posterior occipital bone together to forms the lateral skull base, upward adjacent to brain tissue, downward connected to neck, and it houses abundant cranial nerves and blood vessels. Therefore, temporal bone diseases can damage and spread to adjacent tissues and organs, and lesions in adjacent structures can also affect the temporal bone. Remote malignant tumors can reach the temporal bone through blood flow, on the contrary malignant tumors of temporal bone can also metastasize to distant organs.
