Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of High Entropy Alloys

  • Saurabh S. Nene

摘要

The complex reciprocation between the composition, microstructure, and mechanical behavior of HEAs has prompted researchers to delve deeply into the underlying mechanisms governing their extraordinary properties. Understanding the microstructural evolution of these alloys and their impact on mechanical properties has become critical as they depart from the conventional material-design approach. Furthermore, in HEAs, multiple strengthening mechanisms such as solid solution, precipitation, stacking fault assisted strengthening, transformation/twin induced deformation and grain boundary strengthening found to be active individually or concurrently. In this context, this chapter provides in-depth knowledge of the captivating realm of HEAs, presenting microstructure and mechanical properties of eutectic HEAs, metastable HEAs, refractory HEAs, and lightweight HEAs along with discussion on deformation mechanisms activated in them.
