Distributed Fiber Optic Raman Thermometer and Applications

The distributed fiber optic Raman sensing technology uses the principle of optical time domain reflectometer combined with the temperature effect of Raman scattered light to achieve distributed temperature measurements along the fiber. In 1985, J.R. Darkin (UK) completed the first sensing measurement based on the OTDR principle and Raman scattering effect of optical fiber, which opened the prelude of distributed fiber optic sensing based on Raman effect by domestic and foreign research scholars. In 1987, Chongqing University developed the first prototype of fiber optic temperature measurement in China, which initially realized the functions of fiber optic temperature measurement.
