Lanthanide Ions-Doped Luminescent Nanomaterials for Anticounterfeiting

摘要

Falsifying of significant records, monetary standards, and marked items is a risky issue that has major financial, security, and well-being repercussions for legislatures, partnerships, and purchasers. Every year, large-scale production of counterfeit goods is thought to constitute a multi-billion-dollar underground market. With the passage of time, counterfeiting has been an ever-increasing crime, hence, there is a requirement for cutting-edge answers to forestall the activity. The lanthanide-doped nanomaterials have excellent potential in anticounterfeiting due to their strong luminescence intensity, high stability, and narrow peak width. Different characterization methodologies have been used to explore the morphology, structure, and luminescence characteristics of the synthesized samples. The lanthanide-doped inorganic nanoparticles to be a suitable candidate for luminescent probe and has recently made significant progress. This chapter gives a thorough description of their basic physicochemical characteristics, different synthesis routes, morphological studies, optical spectroscopy, and their possible use in anticounterfeiting applications.
