Intelligent Fire Extinguisher Monitoring System for Smart Cities

摘要

Day by day due to rapid development of cities, the need for a well-developed fire protection system has increased because of increased infrastructure. This leads to the requirement of much manpower for proper monitoring and maintenance of the fire extinguishers, which becomes a cumbersome task and might give rise to errors due to negligence. To reduce the manpower and the complexities involved, a system is proposed that uses Machine Learning, Data Mining, and Internet of Things (IOT) techniques to implement an intelligent fire extinguisher monitoring system. The proposed IoT application will continuously record pressure values in real time from sensors, which are assumed to be attached to the fire extinguisher (which are an integral part of the fire extinguisher) and store the same in a local/cloud database. It will also include a notification system, which will notify the user as soon as a pressure value that is out of range is recorded. Proposed application will be available 24 h to analyze fire extinguisher live data; it will also help to identify critical fire extinguisher correctly in less time. Replacement of pressure gauge by the pressure sensors will reduce the product cost of fire extinguishers when they are manufactured at larger scale. Because of automation, it will reduce the number of human errors, hence it will reduce the probability of accidents and in turn helps in reducing loss to human lives and infrastructure. It will help to predict when the fire extinguisher needs any manual help like maintenance or refilling. The most important advantage of automation of fire extinguisher system is it will help to take decision in stipulated time and will help in saving human lives. The system will also perform predictions based on the previously recorded data to determine which fire extinguishers might go out of range soon. This application will be very effective to develop smart cities in India.
