摘要

This chapter focuses on the state of the art of AM processes in both aeronautical and biomedical applications. The link between process parameters and both the macroscopic and microscopic properties of printed parts is studied, with suggestions on how this may be improved to allow for the manufacture of high-resolution, high-fidelity, and defect-free parts. Particular attention will be paid to the integrity of printed parts when subjected to common loading such as tensile, bending, and microhardness testing. Further, consideration on the potential of AM processes for repairing damaged parts, as this is of growing concern to instances in industry where repair is more cost-effective and easier to carry out than integral part replacement.
