Introduction

At the beginning of the book, this chapter provides an overall introduction to the motivation and objectives of conducting morphological investigations on traditional villages in northern China. In this chapter, the author explains the reasons for choosing Hancheng County in the Guanzhong region of Shaanxi Province, China, as the investigation case and also introduces the research methods and related academic concepts involved in this study.
