Development of Biological Databases for Genomic Research

The present chapter discuss the details description about the development of biological databases including the stages involved in creating it. The first part of the chapter introduces the database management system and the data that is kept within. Later, additional information regarding the types of biological database, along with numerous instances of each category is described. Further, the fundamental software elements that are utilized to create databases and the procedures that must be followed during the development process are described. In the later part of the chapter we discuss an advanced searching technique named as TOPSIS, with which users can perform multiple criteria-based searches in the database.
