A Wideband Circular Slot-Loaded Hexagon-Shaped Microstrip Antenna for Microwave RF Energy Harvesting

A hexagon-shaped microstrip antenna (HSMPA) loaded with circular slots and a partial ground plane is proposed for radio frequency energy harvesting system (RFEHS). A circular slot with a partial ground plane improves the proposed antenna’s return loss and gain characteristics. The proposed hexagon-shaped microstrip patch antenna loaded with circular slots harvests RF energy from RF signals between 1.5 and 5.5 GHz. The radiation efficiency of the proposed HSMPA is between 75 and 90%. The proposed antenna provides almost omnidirectional pattern with a peak gain of 4.56 dBi at higher frequencies.
