摘要

The current work aims to employ the extended isogeometric analysis (XIGA) for modelling of embedded discontinuities in engineering components. The utilization of CAD basis functions for approximations and geometry defining makes the XIGA approach a suitable technique for the efficient analysing of cracked domains. The employment of enrichment functions, i.e. Heaviside and crack tip in XIGA results in the elimination of grid-related issues like remeshing, conformal meshing and mesh distortion. Gauss quadrature rules are also modified in extended isogeometric analysis for improving the accuracy of integration. Further, mixed mode stress intensity factors (SIFs) have been calculated using the domain-based interaction integral method. Based on this model, a two-dimensional homogeneous plate containing a centre crack has been considered for the study. Furthermore, the effect of the similar crack at different inclination angles has been checked. This investigation has reported some key findings related to variation in stress intensity factors which has also been validated with the existing literature.
