Clinical Features, Diagnosis, and Treatment of Pterygium
摘要
Pterygium is clinically divided into three categories based on pathogenesis and etiology:The etiology of primary pterygium remains unclear. Most scholars considered that the occurrence of primary pterygium is associated with UV exposure in most cases and genetic factors in some cases. Recurrent pterygium is defined as the regrowth of primary pterygium into the corneal limbus after extraction surgery. Pseudopterygium, which is not primary pterygium, results from conjunctival trauma, inflammation, or autoimmune disease complications.
