Hydrogen Smelting Reduction of Iron Oxides

摘要

The final reduction takes place in a molten state in various smelting techniques in use today. The reaction temperature, therefore, needs to be higher than or equal to the slag temperature (1450 ℃). Inside an iron-bath reactor for the final reaction where the secondary combustion technology is applied, the temperature can be as high or even more than 1600 ℃. As for the atmosphere in the reactor, since no smelting reduction techniques can bring the second combustion ratio up to 100%, the oxidation degree of coal gas is always lower than 100%. The oxidation degree normally ranges from 0 to 60% in currently used smelting reduction techniques.
