Empathy in Action: A Rapid Design Thinking Sprint for Paediatric Pain—Perspective-Storming, Pain Points, and the Power of Personas

This chapter deeply describes the design thinking process and contextualises it in the context of what is known as a sprint—a focused time dedicated to one topic. The design sprint discussed here was about reducing procedural pain for paediatric patients at the Queensland Children’s Hospital, during their annual week-long event Dream Big. The unique aspect of the design sprint for that event was its short time, taking place over only 1 h.
