Temperature Control in IVF Culture System

Temperature influences the entire process of in vitro fertilization-embryo transfer. Today, most laboratories keep the embryo culture temperature at 37 °C, which is close to the human basal body temperature and is conducive to the development of gametes and embryos [1–3]. Abnormal temperatures may lead to increased embryonic fragmentation, delayed cell division, and even chromosomal abnormalities and thus compromise pregnancy outcomes. Regardless of whether it is the room temperature, the temperature inside the incubator, the temperature of the instruments, the culture dishes, or all culture media used during embryo development, constant temperature monitoring and control are always vital for maintaining stable ART treatment outcomes by avoiding exposure of gametes and embryos to temperatures either too high or too low.
