Conclusion and Future Pointers from the Lessons Learned

  • Sandra Borges Tavares

摘要

This chapter provides a final summary of the discussion points presented in the previous chapters by claiming that although young people are already actively engaged with their societies, there is a huge potential of the intangible legacies of mega-events, such as the Olympic Games, that has not been explored in greater detail by policymakers and organisers when considering the Olympic Games and its impact on youth citizenship. It also stresses that the discourse around legacy, particularly regarding intangible legacies, needs to be closely linked to each and different society, settings and local contexts that are aimed at within legacy planning. The chapter traces, compares and identifies synergies as lessons learned from the two global-divide settings used in the study and ends by providing some important pointers for future research and work for policymakers focused on youth, mega-events and citizenship. Finally, the chapter also summarises the idea puts forward about new framework for thinking about the intangible legacies of mega-events and its implications on the youth population.
