Case Study 2: Young Cariocas’ Expectations of Rio 2016 Games

Following a similar structure as Chap. 3 , this chapter analyses the data and discusses the key findings of the case study of the Olympic Games taking place in Rio de Janeiro in 2016. However, the discussion is based by looking ahead in terms of the participants’ imaginaries and expectations of the 2016 Games before the event took place, as part of their discursive enactments and identity construction and citizenship values. The data are also formed by two samples, both from the newspapers’ front pages and from Rio de Janeiro’s (cariocas) young residents’ mediated discourses.
